New Beginings
On Wednesday 4th September, an Open Day was held and everyone in the Parish was invited to come along. All who came were very impressed by what they saw.
Then, on
Thursday 5th September 2002
, the new term arrived and we began a new journey into the future in our brand new, state-of-the-art Ballymacward Primary School
.
Everyone changed into their plimsoles
and we had our first Assembly in the hall.
We were nearly speechless with how brilliant
the new school was.
A photographer came from a local paper and Mrs. McCrory gave an
interview
.
We wrote about some of our
favourite things
in the new school and made a video tour of the building.
We practised hard in September and had our Opening Mass for the School Year on Monday 7th October 2002.
A lot of people came from the local community, including Mr. & Mrs. Corr. They were able to see our display of work about the new school and its history.
Friday 11th October 2002
was a big day for us as the new school was officially opened. Bishop Walsh blessed us and our classrooms, then we all went into the hall with the guests for the Thanksgiving Ceremony. Everyone agreed that we were brilliant!
After this there were speeches and then Bishop Walsh unveiled the commemorative plaque in the corridor.
Following this, Mr. McGuinness, the Minister for Education, planted a Cherry Blossom tree at the front of the school.
The Official Opening ended with the guests having lunch in the hall and we had a half-day.
