2012 - 2013 New Newsletter coming soon

Friends of Ballymacward Newsletter

Welcome to our very first newsletter.  Through this newsletter, we hope to provide everyone with details of upcoming events, funds raised and what the monies are being spent on.

Clothing Bank.   Our clothing bank arrived late 2010 and to date has been a great success.  We have, so far, raised £385 through our bin which is fabulous!!!!

We would like to thank everyone for contributing and ask that your huge generosity continues.  We understand that there have been a few problems, ie. the height of the bin.  If you cant for any reason get your clothing/shoes/sheets etc into the bin, please put bags underneath the shelter in the playground and a member of staff will endeavour to complete your contribution.

Summer Fete.  Our summer fete was a huge hit in 2010 which we hope to do again this year so watch this space for more information!!  Anyone who would like to volunteer in the organising and running of this event would be most welcome.

Credit Union Quiz.  It was decided that as the school were the hosts of the Credit Union Quiz this year, we would provide tea/coffee/buns and a tuck shop at a small cost.  This was a hit with a number of audience members giving positive and complimentary feedback.

New printer.  A new colour printer was purchased (with maintenance contract) for Key Stage 1 pupils.  This is a great asset for the pupils and they have already been making the most out of it!!

Upcoming Events

St Patricks night (Tuesday 15th March)  A fun filled night for all the family!!  Pupils of Ballymacward will provide dance, music and various other entertainment to celebrate St. Patricks day.  A night not to be missed by parents, friends and members of the wider community.

Konflux Theatre Group.  We are very pleased to be in a position to pay for the Konflux Theatre Group to come to our school for a drama workshop for all pupils in April.

They are a York-based theatre company touring the UK to provide workshop programmes and performances for young people.

Programmes involve working interactively with pupils incorporating drama as an integral part of personal and social development.

Cake Sale.  We hope that there will be another cake sale to raise money for the P7 residential trip to Killyleagh.  In the past this has proved very popular.  Members of friends of Ballymacward, staff, members of the community and most importantly P7 children bake the buns and cakes and then go on to sell them.

We ask that you support the P7 children in their quest as one day your children will also be in P7.

Final Note

We welcome new members to Friends of Ballymacward at any time.  Please check the outside notice board when waiting for your children and your childrens bags for dates of upcoming meetings and feel free to come along.
